Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you for your continued support and vigilance over the past week. I wanted to update you again, as further posts have circulated on social media causing unnecessary alarm in some local communities.
Firstly, I want to reassure you that our students have not engaged in or mentioned anything relating to the so‑called ‘school wars’ trend. They continue to conduct themselves maturely, and we are proud of how they rise above online drama and avoid content designed to provoke fear or rivalry.
As part of our ongoing safeguarding work, we also welcomed an external specialist into school on Friday to deliver an important session on knife crime and personal safety. The presentation was deliberately hard‑hitting and thought‑provoking, reflecting the realities facing young people nationally. Feedback from staff and students has been very positive, and the session reinforced the importance of making safe choices and rejecting any behaviour that glorifies violence.
What we know at this stage
The posts appear to be created to provoke reactions and spread fear.
No incidents have taken place in or around our school.
Our students continue to behave responsibly and are actively avoiding any drama connected to these online trends.
What we are continuing to do
Maintain staff presence on gates before and after school.
Remain in active communication with police, who are monitoring online activity and removing harmful accounts.
Work closely with senior leaders across neighbouring schools to ensure consistent information and responses.
Provide pastoral support and reminders to students about staying safe online and reporting anything concerning.
How you can continue to support your child
Please continue checking your child’s phone and social media activity.
Talk openly with them about why these trends are unsafe, even when framed as “jokes” or “challenges.”
Encourage them to avoid large, unsupervised gatherings after school.
Contact us immediately if you see or hear anything that may require our attention.
We understand how unsettling these online posts can be, especially when they target local areas. Please be assured that safeguarding remains our absolute priority. We are working swiftly, collaboratively, and with the full support of local police and partner schools.
Thank you, as always, for your continued vigilance and support.
