Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to remind you of the arrangements for Friday 22nd May 2026, the day of Ethan Davies-Lunn’s funeral, and how we will come together as a school community to mark this with care and respect.
As previously shared, Ethan’s family have asked that the funeral service itself is by invitation only due to limited space. They are very grateful for the support shown and appreciate the understanding of our wider community. The service will, however, be livestreamed, and we will be making this available in school for those who wish to attend. A member of staff will be present to support students during this time.
Ethan’s family have also shared that there is no specific dress code or colour theme for the day, although a number of people have chosen to wear blue as a personal mark of respect.
On the day:
At 12:00pm, we will observe a minute’s silence in school.
Following this, students will be dismissed and supported to leave the site calmly and safely.
The funeral procession will pass Leasowes High School along Kent Road between 1:30pm and 1:40pm. Staff and students are invited to line the road as a mark of respect if they wish.
The livestream of the funeral will begin at 2:10pm in school.
To help us plan and ensure appropriate supervision and support, we ask parents/carers to indicate whether their child intends to:
Remain in school to watch the livestream, and/or
Attend Kent Road to pay their respects
Please complete the following form by Thursday 21st May 2026: Arrangements for Friday 22nd May 2026 – Fill in form
Please note:
The Year 11 GCSE PE examination will take place as normal in the morning
Other Year 11 students are not expected to attend school that day
We recognise that this continues to be a very emotional time for our community. Support will be available in school, and we encourage you to contact us if you have any concerns about your child.
Thank you for your continued understanding, compassion and support.
Yours sincerely,
Miss Papadopoullos
Headteacher
