Computing and IT

Computing and IT at Leasowes aims to provide learners with the skills and knowledge for an ever-evolving Digital future. It is an innovative subject designed to challenge and inspire learners to think logically, critically and creatively to solve problems. Our curriculum is designed to provide learners with strong transferable skills that are essential to the world of work.

Lessons focus on developing pupil’s ability to program, designing and creating websites and also E-safety.

IT lessons in Y7, 8 and 9 will prepare learners for GCSE Computer Science or the OCR Creative iMedia course.

The department has 4 dedicated computer suites and hosts a range of enrichment opportunities including the retro games club.  There is also an opportunity to become a digital ambassador.

Business Studies

The Business curriculum at Leasowes seeks to develop learners into creative, analytical and informed individuals.  Taking Business at an option for GCSE aims to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence to be successful in all areas of life, enabling learners to go out into the ever-changing job market and be successful. In year 10, learners explore the fundamentals of business, learning how businesses grow and develop. In year 11, learners will have an insight into marketing, human resources and business finance.

Cultural Capital is further embedded within our curriculum through the use of real-world business scenarios and case studies in lessons

Learners have access to Young Enterprise Groups, a chance to be part of the school stationary shop, Business Breakfasts, and can apply to be Business Ambassadors
