English lessons at Leasowes help students prepare for two GCSEs: English Language and English Literature. 

 

We seek to create a genuine love of reading and literature of all kinds in our students. We also want students to be able to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing. Alongside this, we want to enrich students’ cultural capital to help them develop into empathetic and knowledgeable individuals. 

 

Our lessons are based around a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts that inspire and challenge our students. These include the writers Anne Frank, William Shakespeare, Malorie Blackman, Charles Dickens, John Boyle, Suzanne Collins, Willy Russell, Charlotte Bronte, John Agard, Dylan Thomas, Marcus Rashford and Rupi Kaur.
