Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you for your continued vigilance following our earlier communication regarding the 'School Wars' trend circulating on TikTok and Snapchat. Although police have removed a number of accounts promoting these harmful posts, the trend is unfortunately still appearing online.
I want to reassure you that we are not acting alone. Senior leaders across all local schools are in active and regular communication, ensuring consistent messages are being shared with students and families. Police forces have also confirmed they are working closely with schools in multiple boroughs to monitor online activity and disable accounts encouraging violence.
What we are doing as a wider school community
Staff presence before and after school on school gates
Continuing contact with police, who remain on alert and are monitoring posts encouraging school rivalries
Communicating with senior leaders from neighbouring schools so that our responses and messages are aligned and effective.
Providing ongoing pastoral support, reminding students not to engage with or share harmful online content.
How you can continue to help
Please keep checking your child’s phone and social media apps, as other schools have also advised, to ensure they are not being exposed to this content.
Talk openly with your child about why these posts are unsafe, even if they seem like jokes or challenges.
Encourage them to avoid large unsupervised gatherings after school, a precaution recommended by schools dealing with similar posts.
Report anything concerning to us immediately so we can respond swiftly across our joint school network.
Thank you for your support,
Kind regards
Miss Papadopoullos
