Invictus Education Trust Chief Executive Officer

Where we differ from other multi academy trusts is our intention to collaborate, in every way.

This starts with the ‘Invictus Culture’ which has seen all of our schools, and Sixth Form, adopt a shared vision, mission and set of values.

Invictus Vision

Our communities will have access to an outstanding education. Our schools and 6th form cater for the social, economic and cultural diversity that our country is comprised of and deliver opportunities and experiences that celebrate that diversity. We are to be locally based, but nationally important.

Invictus Mission

We exist to provide our schools with the resources to offer independent minded education to their communities.  Our academic focus is on progress. We achieve this with exceptional teaching delivered by outstanding teachers, who are supported by an outstanding team. We provide our students with unique opportunities and elite experiences allowing them to thrive in whatever they pursue.

Invictus Values

Value One – Every day, in every way, our students come first

Our first and most important value.

Value Two – Anything is possible

We focus on the challenge to identify it, our energy is spent finding a solution.

Value Three – Accountability

If it is to be, it is to be me.

Value Four – Seek and seize opportunities

We aim to deliver ‘WOW’ through opportunities and experiences.

Value Five – Focus on relationships and all else will follow

Open, honest and empathic relationships with clear and simple communication are the foundations of our Trust.

Value Six – Start with the end in mind

We identify our aspiration and put processes in place to exceed expectations. We celebrate our progress throughout the journey.

Value Seven – Think Collaboratively

We always ask ourselves; can we include more students, more of our team or more of our schools in everything we do?

See our culture brought to life with the film below

Welcome to your Virtual Tour & Induction

Mr Lopez

Either dive in to the tabs below to find out more about each area of the school, or if you are a little unsure, watch the video directly above to familiarise yourself with lay out of the induction and tour!

We take great pride in the production level of all media we send out to our communities. We believe in delivering the very best for our parents, carers and students, but we hope you appreciate, during this unprecedented time most of our team’s introduction films have been made on ‘selfie’ mode in their own homes! We believe the content of each video is of a much higher value than risking our team’s well being to create more professional films, we hope you do too!

Welcome to the Main Hall and Theatre

We are lucky to have a proper performing arts theatre in school. Every year we host a school show, which we encourage as many students as possible to get involved with. Even if you’re not too interested in acting, you can still get involved with the lighting, sound or set design. Getting involved in these events is a great way to meet new friends.

Welcome to Art – Miss McCollom

The Arts Department

The Arts Department comprises of The Performing Arts, Dance, Drama, Music and the Creative Arts, Art and Design. During year 7 students will rotate and have two lessons per week in two of the subjects, however over the year they will have experienced the four curriculum areas. In year 8 and 9 students will have a complete year of Music and Art and a shared lesson of Dance and Drama. Each area in the arts has specialised classrooms, providing a space and facilities that create the right environment for students to access the subject.

The Performing Arts are based in one area, except for the theatre, this area is known as block 80. All the classrooms in this area are interlinked to make the cross over in curriculum easier. The Performing Arts teachers are Mrs Lowe, Ms Price, Mrs Rennocks, Mrs Wilkes and Mr Tromans.

Dance has a purpose-built dance studio with mirrors and sprung floor, students can enjoy this area whilst choregraphing individual and group dances. Students are expected to wear their PE kits for dance lessons in year 7,8 and 9 but can also purchase a unique dance uniform. This area is always busy with lessons, lunchtime and after school clubs. Students have been involved in many special events including workshops with the Royal Ballet.

Drama has two fantastic areas where groups can learn, rehearse and perform. Both spaces are used for the whole of the performing arts to come together, especially at the school show time. Room 80 is a large central room which allows for many groups of students to work together or individually. The theatre is the professional space where many of our students work during there lessons but also perform for exams, shows and specialised performances.

Music is taught in two main classrooms, these classrooms are equipped with keyboards, drum kits and a range of instruments are stored here. There are also several smaller rooms attached to music where students work individually or in small groups. The music department has recently purchased several new instruments including new key boards. Music is a very popular area in school where students learn about a range of music, how to play instruments and use their voices. The school choir is kept busy all year round with different events at a number of venues. Students can also have individual instrumental lessons in this area with specialised teachers from the Dudley performing Arts peripatetic team, this is at a small cost to the parents.

Art and design are based in same area as Design Technology and Science positioned towards the back of the school. The Art and Design teachers are Mrs McAleavy, Mrs McCollom and Miss Richards.

Art and Design has an allocation of two classrooms currently, the classrooms are equipped and have space for the requirements of the subject. Room 20 is equipped with a kiln and pottery is delivered in this area as part of the curriculum. Both classrooms, 16 and 20 have several Apple macs which have adobe software allowing for students to access photoshop, illustrator and other packages. Students will be introduced to a range of Fine Art materials and techniques, including, drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. This is a busy area in school where students can access art club, spend time on individual projects or be involved in prop making for school performance.

The Arts is a place in school where everybody can find a space to be themselves and meet new people. The department has a number of arts ambassadors that help with many events and promote the area in school.

Every year the arts department take students to a number of events and venues, these include Warner Brother Studios in year 9 and in year 10 a residential trip to London. There are also several curriculum trips to the theatre, music and dance events, gallery and museum visits.

Welcome to English – Mr Steven

The English department have six classrooms on the ground floor. We are all on a one way corridor that leads away from the dining room. There are five main classrooms and then, through the double doors at the bottom, there is Mr Steven’s classroom. He’s the Head of English and has a small library in his room in case you ever want to borrow a book – although there are lots of books in all of the classrooms. Our rooms are numbered like this: Mrs Kaur in 60, Mr Skelding in 61, Mr Steven in 63, Mrs Khan in 67, Mr Hodnette in 68 and Ms Turner in 69. We’re a really easy department to find and will help you understand the one way system when you start.

Welcome to Humanities – Mr Gillespie

Humanities at Invictus will be taught as three discreet subjects, and aims at the development of the ‘whole child’. In particular we believe humanities will help students:

Develop their understanding of concepts related to human culture such as time, space and belief in how human beings can understand themselves and their relationship with the natural world, places and with each other;

developing skills and habits associated with critical thinking such as assessing and interpreting information and sources. The use of extended writing to present and support an argument with evidence.

exploring their own identities, values and beliefs and enabling them to be interested in those of other peoples.

Welcome to Art – Ms Bennett

At Leasowes, we are very lucky to have some of the largest sports facilities in the area.   During your first PE lesson, we will meet in the sports hall where we have 6 badminton courts and 2 basketball courts.   Once you are in your PE groups, you will have lessons in different places throughout the year.   We often use our gymnasium for trampolining and table tennis lessons and next to that, we also have a fitness suite which has treadmills, spin bikes, rowers and weights.   At the bottom of the PE corridor we have our astro turf which has four pitches. We use this a lot for football, handball and summer sports like rounders.   Finally, we have our netball and tennis courts.   During lunch times students often have access to the astro turf and netball courts so you can bring a ball and play with your friends.
