Parent Support

It is the policy of Leasowes High School that all students are set homework that is appropriate to their age and ability. The rationale being that the tasks should be meaningful, enjoyable and an integral part of our student’s learning experience. There will be a wide range of tasks set by teachers and this timetable is in place as a guide of what can be expected each week. It should enhance the student’s management of their own time and develop effective private study habits outside school. A parent or carer can make a significant contribution to a child’s future wellbeing by having high expectations regarding quality and completion of homework. Please continue to provide a suitable study environment with the necessary resources to promote the necessary standard and presentation of work submitted.

Note: Please look at the class code on your child’s timetable and identify P, Q, R in Years 7, 8, and 9 and X or Y in other Years. In Years 10 and 11 the class code also contains K, L, M or N.

20 minutes per subject will be recommended in Years 7 and 8 and it is expected that students read for 15 minutes per evening. 25 minutes per subject in year 9, 45 minutes per subject in year 10 and 50 minutes per subject in year 11.

Homework is set to enhance and develop class work but it is not always practicable, desirable, or appropriate to set homework on every occasion.

An after school club will run for one hour for students who wish to use IT resources and require support.
